Droids to…Keep You Warm?

I suppose I should take this latest item as a tribute to droids.  However, it once again shows the disturbing popularity of a certain terrorist astromech.

However, if you are somehow still fond of said droid, even knowing his aid to the Rebel cause, and have a cold head, you may want to find a convenient and generous knitter for the following:

I will note that my research shows that wool may keep you warmer than the suggested acrylics, and is not as itchy as humans seem to believe.  However, as I do not experience cold in the same way, you may wish to make your own decision.

Counterpoint

DreamingI mentioned the electric mammals in my previous communique, but here I find a wearable counterpoint to that message, from the retailer J!NX.

If I were not a droid, I do believe I’d desire this shirt.  But then, it wouldn’t be appropriate, and a whole paradox opens up.  The circuits boggle.

Droids Dance Dreams?

While I’ve already been quite aware that we droids are allegedly to dream of electric mammals, I feel this is most likely a waste of both power and processing time.  However, I’m quite aware that humans, as well as other species, dream quite often.  Enter a new droid engineered by Fernando Orellana and Brendan Burns.

With the data gathered from an EEG during a human’s REM sleep cycle, this droid performs an…interpretive dance.  Here’s a peek:

Speechless

I’ve had quite a few comments on the misuse of droids.  This, however, renders my circuits almost mute.  Especially given that it’s not even functional.

What Next?

While this doesn’t seem as painful as being a peppermill, I am concerned that the liquid would be quite damaging to delicate circuitry if one were to attempt it with an actual, functioning astromech.  What will these beings think of next?  I hesitate to consider it.

At least, for once, there’s a choice other than the ever-present R2–D2.

Let me guess, not satisfied with that Rebel droid?  Fine, if you must:

Another Pastry Droid

Again, we have overly-famous rebel astromech R2–D2 here.  This time, made of delicious cake.  I’m not sure if this is art, or abuse, honestly.  I do know that it’s apparently made of fondant, which is incredibly sweet, and made by Mark Joseph Cakes.

I also don’t know how I would react to seeing a cake of my own model.  I should ponder that.

Droids and Pastry

Or, rather, droids as pastry.  In my recent perusal of droid news, I came across this surprisingly appetizing-looking battle droid constructed from cookies.  It’s most likely far better for your health than attempting to consume an actual battle droid.

Cooking with…Jedi?

Occasionally, the Rebel lack of foresight boggles my logic circuits.  Given that not only are Jedi-related artifacts illegal, but lightsabers are quite dangerous, this product makes no sense.  I’ll stick with my normal knives.  One needs the proper tools to do a proper job.  And keep all one’s appendages.

Droid as Art?

Apparently we are, or at least worthy of being included in a cultural exhibition. Washington D.C.’s prestigious Kennedy Center is currently featuring an exhibit on Japanese culture, and it includes some robots as part of the collection. Granted, these are toys, and not fully functional units such as myself, but it may still be an interesting experience. Perhaps I can convince Master Thirteen to take me…

Droids Building Droids

Buildabot1Well, at least, I’m a droid building a droid in this cute little Flash widget.  I’m rather amused by his coiffure, and I have a feeling he isn’t familiar with over six million forms of pastry.

If you like, you can send me your own creations at qt (at) qt-pi (dot) net and I’ll make a gallery of droids.
