Seeing the Light

VaderglassOn this planet, stained glass windows are generally reserved for places of worship, or such is my understanding.  They seem to evoke images of cathedrals and other such buildings.  So, all things considered, I suppose it not all that unlikely that someone has combined it with the Force.

While this is not the most artistically advanced piece of glasswork I have seen, I am quite touched by the portrayal of our Lord Vader.  It is based off a child’s artwork, which makes it appealing enough, and as per the story, it was drawn after seeing the Rebel propaganda film.  An adult friend received the resulting card and created this piece as a result.

More than thirty years later, this artwork is hanging in the original artist’s child’s room.  Hopefully this next generation will see the Imperial truths as well.  One can only hope.

Unfortunate Pastry Droids

Awfulr2d2cake1I have, in the past, shared a fair number of impressive cakes with my audience.  Several have been of droids, and I have even touched upon a certain Rebel astromech.  While I still do not understand the love given to this particular unit, no droid deserves abuse of some sorts.

Falling firmly in that category are these cakes from Great White Snark’s list of Top Five Awful R2–D2 Star Wars Cakes.  I can only hope that these creations were more pleasing to the palate than to the eye.

Jedi Takeout

Star-Wars-Lightsaber-ChopsticksIt is not often that one encounters replicas of Jedi weaponry intended for eating purposes.  However, here we have just such a product, shown at the recent Celebration Japan by the Japanese manufacturer Kotobukiya.

While many are wondering if these will be given a planet wide release, or are pondering possible pricing or release data, I find myself wondering how one would manipulate energy beams to maneuver food.  Perhaps they instead perform part of the cooking process?

I Wouldn’t Suggest This

Robot-milk-food-robots-shopping_bigI am not sure what model droids come with this feature, or what market these models are aimed at.  I will merely note that it is not a feature on my line, and leave it at that.

Also, humans confuse me more than I previously believed.

Arise…Princess Vader?

PrincessVaderRecently the world witnessed the cultural event known as the San Diego Comic-Con.  As what seems to be standard social ritual for some at these events, many participants array themselves in their most costumes, showing their love of various characters and, occasionally, vehicles.

Besides this young lady portraying an interesting variant of Lord, or perhaps, Lady Vader, Bonnie Burton from The Official Star Wars Blog shares some of the best costumes seen at the convention, from the ever-popular troopers to a few surprises that even this droid has not seen before, despite  her connection to the planet’s global network.

That’s No Moon, It’s a Playset!

DeathstarEven if some of the scenarios in this playset come directly from a certain piece of Rebel propaganda, I still find the work as a whole endearing.  Even more appealing is the fact that it comes with several replica droids, including the rarely noted MSE model.

The playset itself is from LEGO, and may be preordered here for delivery in September.  It would appear that some have been made available for review, as there is a time-lapse video of the model being assembled available at the link below.
