Repurposed Communications
While I have never seen a typewriter in use on this planet, I do know that they were once used for communication purposes, and I find the idea quite quaint. A machine used to produce a single hard copy of a document, one letter at a time. As inefficient as it sounds, I still appreciate all things communications-related, and am therefore glad to see these objects get new life as artwork.
Jerry Mayer is taking these now-outdated machines and turning them into wonderful sculptures. His work ranges from humanoid to insectoid, with a few felines and masks in the mix. I find it all quite compelling, with each piece having a personality of its own.
