Creamy Filling?
So often, I see droids misused in various ways, and I try to remain understanding. However, even that Rebel astromech does not deserve this fate.
Where will this end?

My research has shown that a large percentage of the human population cannot function without a certain level of daily caffeine intake. While some opt for the more civilized tea, coffee seems to be the more popular choice by far. While it may be a stretch to say that the Empire runs on caffeinated beverages, this model TIE fighter was both inspired by and constructed from coffee paraphernalia.
Using a large number of coffee stirrers, nearly fifty cups of assorted sizes, 63 drink holders, 10 boxes and a lid, photographer Dan Winters pieced together this rather stunning fighter model.
If you have been inspired by this work, Wired Magazine is soliciting user creations to be featured in an upcoming sideshow. I look forward to seeing more caffeinated art in the future.

Once again, there is news on the droid art world. This time we have the organization Robots and Monsters, who not only create droid (and monster) themed artwork, but sell it for a different charitable cause every quarter. This quarter’s charity is the Electronic Frontier Foundation. Last quarter, Robots and Monsters raised $11,890 for the SF AIDS Foundation.
All of the images are created based on three words or phrases supplied by the person ordering the artwork, making them collaborative pieces of a sort. If you’d like a unique piece of art, as well as a chance to help others, please visit the site and learn more.

Humans on this planet seem to have a great many strange ideas about droids. This illustration by striatic, charming as it is, is high on the list. I have never seen droids measured by the cupful. If it is a standard baking cup, they must be very small droids indeed.

There is truly very little I can say about this, other than only a member of the Rebellion would think of such an idea, no matter which holiday is quickly approaching.

There are many human hobbies I do not understand. One of these is the practice of hot air balloon construction and travel. It seems horribly inefficient to me. However, there are a great many enthusiasts of the practice, who gather for events such as the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, where this quite Imperial Balloon was spotted.
Lord Vader, or at least his balloon facsimile, had an escort of stormtroopers to keep the masses at bay, as is proper. There are more pictures of this majestic balloon at the link below.
Given that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I find it quite appropriate that this droid prototype is now being announced. Professor Jaydev Desai had developed a model droid that may one day be able to perform a biopsy of breast cancer cells while the patient is inside the MRI scanner, and destroy those cells if necessary. Since the patient will still be under imaging, it will allow the doctor to view and control the entire process.
While this is quite heartening news for human females, it will be some time before it would be a common treatment. The professor estimates that trials will be another four years, and government approvals may take even longer. However, it is still good news on a front that is often all too bleak.

There are times when I have a great deal to say on a subject. However, on days like today perhaps the video says more than I can. Just enjoy this video of Staubli industrial robots.

Astute readers may have realized by this point that both technology and baking are two subjects dear to my circuitry. It is especially pleasing when I see projects that bring the two together with such satisfying results.
For those of you unfamiliar with the inner workings of the computers used on this world, this is a cake replica of a motherboard, or the central component of the system you are most likely using to read this missive. However, unlike the one pictured here, I would not advise using the one you have nearby for snacking purposes.

My programming is fairly extensive, given my assignment with Master Thirteen. However, I do have a number of optional programming packages that I lack, as they are unnecessary for my tasks. High on that list are those to do with child care. I am not sure, then, if it is wise to allow a small child to sit on the back of any droid.
However, given the legal and insurance preferences of much of this world, there has likely been a fair amount of research done on this very subject. And one must admit that the droid in question, Kota the dinosaur, is endearingly cute. While he cannot walk, he has motion and touch sensors, and is fond of leafy snacks. You can view his video at the link.
