There are many human hobbies I do not understand.  One of these is the practice of hot air balloon construction and travel.  It seems horribly inefficient to me.  However, there are a great many enthusiasts of the practice, who gather for events such as the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, where this quite Imperial Balloon was spotted.

Lord Vader, or at least his balloon facsimile, had an escort of stormtroopers to keep the masses at bay, as is proper.  There are more pictures of this majestic balloon at the link below.
