A Festive Season

Afdd_sw_galactic_heroes_stocking_stuffers_allIt would appear that the area inhabited by a large subset of my audience has just entered a lengthy major holiday season.  As has been previously noted, I do not entirely understand the nuances behind human celebrations on this planet.  Gift exchanges and food seem to be very common, but I am still trying to figure out the correlation between greenery and mating displays, especially when half the participants appear to be very unwilling and the other half overly so.  I suspect it may have more to do with consumed intoxicants than any sensible traditions.

All these things considered, if one prefers wreaths as part of their festive celebrations, would it not be best to have that wreath delivered by one of the Empire’s stormtroopers?  Or the requisite holiday confections offered by Lord Vader himself?  The Galactic Heroes Stocking Stuffers offers these opportunities, and quite a few more, for those who are looking for new traditions this year.

You Must Be Joking

Robot_on_toiletOnce again, I find myself without words.  I suppose this makes a strangely fitting companion to the tissue cover from the last missive, however.

I really don’t want to know what some droid designers were thinking, if this logic holds up.

Dirty Droid Duties

Starwars_tissue_box_wThere are times where I just can not generate an appropriate comment for a product.  Right now is one of those times.

DIY Droid?

AntonAny time I look at access records for this site, it becomes quite obvious that there are those with craft skill in the readership.  One of most frequent search terms that shows up is “papercraft,” and I am sure that there are those of other creative persuasions as well.

Today I do not have any paper creations to share, but needlecraft, instead.  Here we have the adorable Anton, a crochet project from Design-Shop.  He requires some intermediate crochet knowledge, but appears to be worth any amount of effort for such an appealing droid companion.

Wookiee Footwear

ChewieSlipperOnce again, I am quite glad that I do not have feet which register temperature.  Like the Yoda slippers I have mentioned previously, I could not see myself donning these Wookiee slippers.

I do have to say, they do seem a bit small to be Wookiees.  If the merchant were not labeling them as such, I might mistakenly believe them to be Ewoks instead.  Perhaps my being identification routines need updating.

The True Hero of WALL-E

BURN-E_2.pngFor those of you who are familiar with the movie WALL-E, the hero of the movie is quite obvious.  After all, in a movie about droids, the hero can be assumed to be a droid.

That assumption, of course, is correct.

However, after watching the short film BURN-E, included as a special feature on the DVD, I must conclude that the BURN-E unit pictured here is the true hero of the film, even if he is only shown briefly in the main feature.  He shows a persistence and hardworking spirit that any droid would proud to demonstrate.  His artistic and musical talent is also quite charming.

WALL-E on DVD

WALL-EposterFor some this will be a reminder, and for others an original notice.  The animated droid feature WALL-E will be released on DVD tomorrow.  If you would like to own a copy, or have not yet seen it, this is your chance to purchase it.

I am looking forward to being able to view this within the droid-friendly confines of Master Thirteen’s bunker.  As much as the public seems taken with the droids in this movie, Master Thirteen did not deem it wise to test their reaction to meeting a real one.

A Long Resume

R2d2-aquariumThe list of inappropriate uses a certain Rebel astromech is subjected to just keeps growing, it seems.  The latest in a very long list is this aquarium, which features a periscope for fish viewing, LED lights which change color from red to blue to green, and a two-sided background.

I just hope that a great deal of thought has been given to the typical problems droids face in wet environments.  Otherwise this would be an even more unwise investment than usual.

A New Toast

Jawatoast_smIn my last missive, I mentioned the Darth Vader Toaster, and mentioned its place in a properly Imperial breakfast.  However, it would seem that some citizens find toast, even adorned with the visage of Lord Vader, either unappealing or repetitive, even given the vast array of breads available on even this planet.

Lucky for those readers, Bonnie Burton of the Official Star Wars Blog has provided several recipes for your toasting pleasure.  Just beware that Jawas do not run off with your Tatooine Toast.

Rise and Shine, Lord Vader

Darth_vader_toasterI am not sure what the higher ranks of the Empire eat for breakfast, let alone Lord Vader himself.  Perhaps he enjoys toast, as this product would suggest.

If you also enjoy toast as part of the most important meal of the day, and would benefit from a morning viewing of Lord Vader’s visage, you may want to consider this kitchen appliance.
