I am not sure if this video really conveys the proper picture of the Shear Magic system. Humans seem to find it at least mildly disturbing, on the whole, given the restraint of the sheep. However, even more traditional methods of shearing do not seem particularly comfortable to the sheep.
The creators of the system claim that is “isn’t disturbing for a sheep, hard to believe, isn’t it? In our tests, sheep often fell asleep and showed no signs afterwards of any ill-effects from being constrained.” In either case, whether traditional or droid sheared, I am sure that the creatures in quest are glad to be free of their heavy coats as warm weather approaches.
