The Sleep of the Imperial

504x_imperialThere have been a great many things featured in these missives before.  Pastries, clothing, droids, and various products,  However, I do not seem to have an entry for sleep furniture in my databanks.  Hopefully this is due to an actual lack of entries, and not data loss from recent system issues.

In either case, I will no longer be able to claim this fact.  The image at left is a bed fashioned by a father for his properly Imperial son.

If you would like more details, the creator has provided them at Instructables.

And the Winner Is…

Group1Some time ago, I mentioned a contest by the good humans at BotJunkie, attempting to find a name for a group of robots.  The contest results are finally in, and the winners have been announced.  For a list of winners, and the judges’ favorite terms, please see the official listing.

An Outbreak

Funny-pictures-kitten-needs-bigger-death-starThere seems to be an outbreak of felines donning pink Imperial-related accessories.  I am not sure if this is a good sign or not.  I am also not sure what language this site is in.  It does not match up precisely with any in my databanks.  It may require further investigation.

Defying Description

Hello-kitty-stormtrooperThere are some times when even I do not have the proper vocabulary to describe a picture.  Now would be one of those times.

Foldable Droids

robandskipPapercraft appears to be a very popular topic for those in the reading audience, at least according to the search reports.  While I continue to deal with technical issues, those who are interested in the subject may wish to look at these creations by PIPEROID.

Also, please remember to keep proper backups of all important files, both locally and off-site.  While it is quite slow restoring from a remote system, the ability to do so is invaluable right now, when both the local system and backup have failed.

Giant Droid in Tokyo

gundamWhile I am still experiecing some techincal difficulties, I did want to note that this giant model has been activated in Tokyo to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Gundam.  While I am not entirely sure of the cultural significance of Gundamn, it is quite impressive nonetheless.

Naming Conventions

groupWhile I am currently experiencing some technical difficulties, I did want to note that BotJunkie has announced a contest to develop an official designation for a grouping of droids.  There are several prizes being offered, so it may be of interest to some in the audience.

And No Jawas, Either

roboshopIf you are in the market for droids or droid-related merchandise, but have been finding it difficult to locate, then you may be interested in RobotShop, which claims to be “The World’s Leading Source for Domestic and Professional Robot Technology.”  While it’s a pretty impressive claim, they do have a wide variety of merchandise, and a montly magazine as well.  It’s worth a look for any droid lover.

Don’t Ingest the Yellow Chalk

While I do not, on the whole, understand sports or sporting events, I do understand that they are important to the human population.  Currently, there appears to be a large yearly cycling competition that has once again captured the attention of people all over the planet.  While most humans do not appear to follow the sport for most of the year, they are aware of the Tour de France, and of Lance Armstrong, who has returned to the race to bring attention to his LIVESTRONG Foundation.

As an extra means of gaining attention, LIVESTRONG and Nike have created the Chalkbot:   a droid that prints chalk messages, on the road ahead of the riders.  The messages may be submitted by text message or on the website, and the user received a link to their picture after it is printed.  It is certainly an interesting use of droid technology to gain attention for a human cause.

Good Dental Habits

toothbrushholderIt is quite important to instill dental hygiene good habits in young humans.  However, it can sometimes be a challenging task.  If you are facing this occasionally trying task, you may have an ally in the Tatiri Toothbrush Holder Robot.  With its droid design and two minute timer, it teaches proper brushing intervals and droid appreciation.
