For those of you who are looking for a droid-related activity in the San Francisco area this weekend, you may want to investigate the sixth annual RoboGames, held from Friday through Sunday. With more than 70 events, it’s sure to have something to interest any droid fan.

Pez candies seem to be a confection that humans either love or hate. This may have more to do with the dispensers than the candies themselves, for some collect them almost obsessively, whereas others describe them as creepy. Those who are a fan of either the candies or the dispensers may enjoy this video with that ubiquitous astromech.
As it is the traditional end of the week for many working humans, I thought I would share a bit of culture, in the form of this video.

I’m sure everyone in the audience is aware of the Roomba, which vacuums floors with a minimum of human guidance. It is a machine well-suited for home maintenance tasks and feline transport. However, larger tasks, such as office building cleaning, are beyond its design and battery life.
For those of you who may have a office building in need of floor cleaning, there is a droid solution in the works. Fuji Heavy Industries and Sumitomo have issued a press release bout this droid which not only cleans the floors, but which will use the building’s elevator system to access each floor, eliminating the need for redundant cleaning systems on each floor.

As I’m sure those reading these missives are well aware, today’s stormtroopers are not clones. They are ordinary servants of the Empire, and as such, have a variety of interests and hobbies.
Photographer Cindi Geeze has captured many of these diverse interests, from dancing to baking (a personal favorite) in her Flickr pool, Storm Troopin’. Granted, her subjects are stormtrooper action figures, given the rarity of actual troopers on this planet. However, perhaps Master Thirteen would allow some candid photography if approached politely.

It seems a great many beings on this planet are celebrating a holiday known as “Mother’s Day” today, honoring their maternal parents. As I am a droid, with no actual parents, it seems a very strange holiday for me, but in the interest of understanding human psychology, I shall partake of this ritual. I could not find an appropriate card to send to my creators, who are both “mother” and “father” to me, but at least I can send a message.
